Both cancer and many treatments for cancer can cause a deficiency of red blood cells. When one’s red blood cell count is low, he/she can experience fatigue, muscle weakness, shortness of breath, dizziness, irregular heartbeat, cold body temperature, and peripheral neuropathy. There are 5 main ingredients necessary for the production of red blood cells: vitamins B6, B9 (folate), B12, copper, and iron.
This product contains 5 mg of methylated B9 (folate) per dose. It is important to note that one should only supplement with B vitamins if his/her body is low or deficient. It is strongly recommended that you ask your doctor to check your current serum level before starting on this product, as toxicity of B vitamins can be harmful. The general reference range for vitamin 9 (folate) is between 2 and 20 ng/ml. Your target lab value should be between 12 and 18 ng/ml. If your value is below 8, take 1 capsule per day, after food. Also, because of the antioxidant effects of B vitamins, it is recommended to avoid this product 1 week before, during, and for 4 weeks after radiation.
